As President Clinton said during the 1992 Presidential campaign, "It's the economy, stupid." Twenty years later, it's STILL the economy - and many Republicans still don't seem to get it.

Brian Beutler of Talking Points Memo pointed out in a pair of clear and easy to read charts, the U.S. economy really began a solid upward trend in 2011 - at about the same time President Obama decided he'd had enough of Republican obstruction, and won the Debt Ceiling battle.

In fact, since the President first came into office, he's been fighting to improve the economy, starting with the Stimulus. As Ezra Klein noted this week, 80 percent of economists agree: the stimulus worked.

It's easy to see why are so many Republicans scared this election cycle. You would be too if you had no real accomplishments, and had fought tooth and nail against the things that worked to help the economy.
