It was a surprise to many people on Tuesday, when former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum swept the day's contests. He was expected to win Missouri, but also won the caucus events in Colorado and Minesota - a state Mitt Romney won handily in 2008.

Santorum appeared to be attempting humility in a winner's speech where he tried contrasting himself with both President Obama and Mitt Romney. He didn't succeed.

Texas Congressman Paul had a surprising finish of his own Tuesday night, taking second place in the Minnesota caucus, and doing well in the other two states.

Mitt Romney appeared stunned and a little bit shaken as he pull second place in Missouri and Colorado, and ended up in third place, behind Ron Paul in Minnesota. It didn't help Romney that GOP voter turnout was at near-record lows.

Right now, the GOP nomination battle looks to have the hallmarks of a long and ugly race.
