As Michael Grunwald notes recently in Time magazine, "It’s really amazing to see political reporters dutifully passing along Republican complaints that President Obama’s opening offer in the fiscal cliff talks is just a recycled version of his old plan, when those same reporters spent the last year dutifully passing along Republican complaints that Obama had no plan."
Sure enough though, John Boehner and the Republicans are crying about their latest "counterproposal" in the fiscal curb debate being rejected by the White House.
When you take a look at the chart Steve Benen created to break down just what's in the Republican's counteroffer, it's obvious why the President and Democrats said the Republicans offer was no compromise at all.
What part of "position of weakness" do you guys not understand? The American people already gave their opinion about taxing the rich... in November. They said "Let's tax the rich more!"
That’s the reason you’re not negotiating with President-elect Romney. Get over it. You lost. It's time you learned the real meaning of the word compromise.
